POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Development Associate, Corporate, Foundation and Government Support
DEPARTMENT: Development
SUPERVISOR: Director of Development
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time/Non-Exempt
PRIMARY EFFORT:
- Work as part of a team to raise funds from corporations, foundations, government and organizations
- Provide administrative support for institutional gifts efforts and Director of Development
- Grants administration
- Business membership program
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Development (Institutional Gifts)
- Administer the business membership program including campaigns, renewals and recognition.
- Recommend policies and strategies to meet annual fundraising goals
- Administer the corporate sponsorship efforts for ticketed special events (Ball and Auction)
- Perform research and prospect management for corporate, foundation and government gifts in cooperation with the grants writer.
- Perform grants administration functions including drafting reports, project tracking, submission, data entry and maintaining files
- Edits and proofreads proposals and reports to funders.
- Manage Raisers Edge database for organizational constituents
- Data entry for institutional gifts and thank you letters and membership cards.
- Cultivate prospects and solicit gifts from corporations and foundations when appropriate.
Administration
- Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Development in the area of institutional gifts.
- Answer general inquiries and E-mails, filing and routine office tasks
- Serve as back-up to Membership Coordinator and Individual Gifts Associate as needed (data entry using Raisers Edge software)
- Serve as back-up person in opening mail and preparing check log.
- Serve as back-up to Special Events RSVP functions.
- Other projects as needed and assigned.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA or equivalent
- 2 – 3 years working in a development office
- Excellent personal computer/database skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (writing samples will be requested from finalists)
- Efficient administrative skills – organizational skills
- Experience working with volunteers
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent organization skills
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to manage confidential information
