POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Membership and Database Manager
DEPARTMENT: Development
SUPERVISOR: Director of Development
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time/Exempt
PRIMARY EFFORT:
Plan, implement and evaluate the acquisition and retention of general Museum members.
Plan, implement and evaluate Museum fund campaigns including annual campaign and member Capital Campaign efforts.
Direct and oversee the Museum’s database, serving as the database administrator.
Supervise membership staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and implement strategies and tactics to acquire new general members and retain existing general members.
- Work closely with Marketing Department to ensure marketing strategies support acquisition and retention goals.
- Work across departments to create a membership acquisition and retention program that is creative and efficient.
- Create and manage membership budget—revenue and expenses—ensuring expenses are minimized and revenue is maximized.
- Monitor goals and budgets on a monthly and annual basis to assure financial objectives are met.
- Manage strategies including direct mail, telemarketing, internet, and onsite membership sales.
- Design membership strategies to support the opening and ongoing operations of the New Crocker. Maintain and refine strategies as necessary to ensure maximum exposure and increased memberships annually.
- Craft and oversee plan for the solicitation of members, lapsed members, and other non-major donor prospects for Capital Campaign gifts and other upcoming campaigns.
- Supervise the Donor Services Assistant in all aspects of his or her work.
- Serve as system administrator for the Museum’s Raiser’s Edge database. Establish systems and protocols for maintaining database integrity. Train staff in database use and function. Produce special reports, queries, and exports as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or master’s degree.
- Proven track record in raising funds with a demonstrated expertise in annual fund and membership programs especially direct marketing and online fundraising techniques
- Ability to communicate the mission, vision and programs of the Museum.
- Strong project planning and tracking skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Expert knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and its applications including internet and on-line systems.
- Broad knowledge of the development field, its best practices, code of ethics, and systems for maintaining good relationships with donors.
- Ability to develop relationships with a diversity of individuals. Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Computer literate including Microsoft products, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Management skills in hiring and supervising employees.
OTHER
Weekend and evening work will be required on occasion.
