The Crocker-Kingsley: California's Biennial
January 29 - March 13, 2005
The Kingsley Art Club in cooperation with the Crocker Art Museum sponsors a biennial exhibition held at the Crocker. In this juried exhibition, artists throughout California submit their work to be considered for inclusion by an internationally acclaimed artist.
This year celebrates the 74th such exhibition, since the first held in 1927 (and the first juried show in 1940). The show aims to attract California's established artists as well as those just emerging on the scene. Past exhibitors have included many of the premier names in American and California art, including Robert Arneson, Kathryn Uhl Ball, Elmer Bischoff, Fred Dalkey, David Gilhooly, Ralph Goings, Gregory Kondos, Roland Petersen, Mel Ramos, Ruth Rippon, Fritz Scholder and Wayne Thiebaud.
The Kingsley Art Club and the Museum are also proud to announce artist Mel Ramos as this year's exhibition juror. Ramos will select approximately 50-75 pieces for display from art submitted in November. Work will represent a diversity of media-painting, sculpture, photography and craft-ranging from traditional and representational to abstract and conceptual. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, First, Second and Third Places, and Honorable Mention selections.
