Guidelines

These guidelines are intended to assist users with planning their project and completing their Commercial Photography and Filming Request Form. Additional requirements may be in the final contract signed between the user and the Museum.

Impact

The Museum’s exhibits and artworks may not be moved or altered in any way. In no event shall animals or plants be brought into the building. All crews, sets, and equipment (including lighting, electrical, and sound equipment) brought on site must be approved in advance and nothing may be permanently attached to walls, structures, windows, or exhibits. Only electronic flash is permitted. Proximity of lights, equipment, and crews in relation to the artwork must be supervised by Museum staff. Any and all materials brought in must be removed at the close of each day by the crew.

Artworks and Copyright

With some exceptions, works in the Crocker Art collection may be filmed/photographed, while works on loan to the CAM or included in traveling exhibitions may not be photographed. Schedule a personal tour with a staff member if you have questions about which artworks may be filmed/photographed. Users are responsible for obtaining written permission for filming/photographing artworks protected by copyright.

Script/Content Approval

Final approved scripts and content boards, including any and all scenes or layouts that include the Museum must be submitted to the Marketing Communications Department at least two weeks prior to the project date. The Museum reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to review and approve all content and scenes and approve or deny the use of its names or images in any context.

Trademarks/Ownership/Use

The Museum’s name and logo are trademarks and are owned by the Crocker Art Museum Association. The content of any electronic or printed material referencing and/or including identifiable property, including but not limited to trademarks of the Museum, including such content in film, audio, Internet, and/or other programs, promotional materials, signs, posters, and/or tickets, may not be utilized in any manner and/or for any purpose without the prior written consent of the Museum in its sole discretion. Any goodwill arising from the approved use of any Museum property shall inure to the benefit of the Museum.
